FREE CLASSROOM VISITS THROUGH 2019!
Stan Swanson primarily makes school visits for grades 2 through 6 as his Hobart Hucklebuck series is aimed at the 8-12 age group.
His basic visits are 1-hour in length.
“Anything longer than an hour usually makes it difficult to keep that age level’s attention. But for one hour, I can keep them very involved and interested,” Stan says.
Stan, of course, loves for students to purchase copies of his books, but it is not a requirement for visits. However, he can provide either informational purchase sheets for students to take home to their parents or have books available for sale the day of his visit. He will autograph any books sold on the day of his visit. (Teachers should make sure that students interested in purchasing a copy from the author bring the correct amount with them.)
As a singer/songwriter Stan also brings music into his presentations. His wife, a school teacher herself for many years as well as a presenter for children as well as adults, also accompanies him many times.
A typical classroom visit consists of the author reading an excerpt from the book, singing a song or two (he wrote “The Ballad of Hobart Hucklebuck” specifically for this purpose) and also performs other songs that students enjoy. His visit usually ends with a question and answer session from the students either about the book or the writing process.

Additional hours for additional grades or classrooms: $50.00 per hour
